Note to Shelters

We are here to help ferrets find their forever homes. We are a strong supporter of all of our local shelters and rescue groups. Although we are NOT a nonprofit, 501(c) (3) organization, we are a not for profit ferret rescue. We run strictly off of donations from our supporters. 100% of donations go towards the care and well being of the ferrets in our care. We rescue animals from shelters all over Kentucky and Tennessee and most often owner surrenders to our rescue.

Our Policy’s: All ferrets are adopted out after going through a strict applications process. We will check references, vet records and with landlords to make sure that EVERY FERRET adopted from Little Hearts Ferret Rescue finds his/her forever home. We make no exceptions to this policy!

Before Adoption:

All of our ferrets see our vet before going up for adoption. Vaccinations and a wellness check are made before any ferret is deemed adoptable. A quarantine period is strictly enforced as well. We do everything we can to ensure that our ferrets are healthy and completely ready for their forever home before we try to match them with their new family.

We will take ferrets from the public. Please contact us to arrange a meeting. We are a not for profit rescue and work solely off of donations both monetary and otherwise. We ask that when you surrender you ferret to us you bring all medical records, medications, cages, toys, blankets, beds and food your animal is used to so that we can help your pet make his/her transition as smooth as possible. Take the time to write down some things we should know about your ferret se we can help your pet find the best home. Include likes, dislikes, tricks, schedules and routines. Anything you can think of will help potential adopters make the best decision possible.

Please contact our Rescue Manager about Shelter training that is available to all Shelter's. This training is Free of Charge and will provide you and your staff a better understanding of Ferret's and their needs in a shelter environment.
